Cantus

The starkness of a 12th-century plainsong begins CANTUS. The pace quickens as the textures thicken and become increasingly complex. The conclusion finds a meditative chorale with echoes of the opening, symbolic of the cyclical quality of our own lives! The composition is a highly evolved statement for the young ensemble and a vital new work in this genre.
